Hot Yoga vs Traditional Yoga

Which Is Right for You?

If you’ve been searching for Hot Yoga or wondering whether traditional yoga classes might suit you better, you’re not alone.

At Seven Chakras Yoga Studio in the heart of Rochester, Kent, we offer both heated and non-heated classes — because yoga isn’t one-size-fits-all.

So what’s the difference? And which one is right for your body, your lifestyle, and your goals?

Let’s explore...

🔥 What Is Hot Yoga?

Hot Yoga is practiced in a heated room, typically between 30–38°C. The warmth encourages:

  • Increased circulation

  • Deeper muscle release

  • Improved flexibility

  • Detoxification through sweat

  • Mental resilience and focus

At Seven Chakras Yoga Studio our Dynamic Hot Yoga classes blend strength, mobility, breathwork and mindful flow — helping you build power while releasing stress and tension.

Many students tell us they love hot yoga because:

  • It feels intense yet empowering

  • It melts away stiffness (especially desk-job shoulders and hips)

  • It leaves them feeling lighter, clearer and deeply reset

If you’re looking for hot yoga in Kent that challenges and uplifts you — this is it.

🌿 What Is Traditional (Non-Heated) Yoga?

Traditional yoga is practiced at room temperature and includes a wide range of styles — from dynamic to deeply restorative.

At Seven Chakras Yoga Studio in Rochester, our non-heated classes include:

  • Foundations First – perfect for beginners

  • Align & Flow – mindful strength and mobility

  • Ashtanga: Power Yoga – structured, energising movement

  • Soft & Still (Yin Yoga) – slow, deep release

  • Stretch & Release – tension relief and flexibility

  • Release & Realign – supportive, therapeutic movement

These classes focus on:

  • Breath awareness

  • Alignment and technique

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Sustainable strength

  • Deep relaxation

If you’re searching for yoga classes in Medway for beginners, or gentle yoga in Kent to de-stress, traditional yoga may be your starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is hot yoga suitable for beginners?

Yes — many beginners start with Hot Yoga.

Our Dynamic Hot Yoga classes are guided clearly, with options offered throughout. That said, if you’re completely new to yoga, you may prefer starting with Foundations First or Align & Flow before trying a heated class.

If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to recommend the best starting point.

2. How hot is your hot yoga studio?

Our heated classes are typically between 30–38°C, warm enough to increase circulation and mobility without being overwhelming.

The heat supports flexibility and helps release tight muscles — particularly helpful if you spend long periods of time sitting or working at a desk.

3. Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

Absolutely not.

Flexibility is something you develop, not something you need beforehand. Whether you join Hot Yoga, Yin Yoga, Ashtanga, or Stretch & Release, our classes meet you where you are.

Most students come because they feel tight, stressed or stiff — especially from work or parenting.

Yoga helps with that.

4. What should I bring to a hot yoga class?

For Hot Yoga we recommend:

  • A yoga mat

  • A large towel (for sweat)

  • Water bottle

  • Comfortable, breathable clothing

We also have mats and props available if you need them.

5. Is hot yoga better for weight loss?

Hot yoga can increase heart rate and build strength, which may support fat loss when combined with a balanced lifestyle.

However, the real benefits most members notice are:

  • Reduced stress

  • Better sleep

  • Improved flexibility

  • Increased energy

  • Greater body confidence

Yoga is about sustainable wellbeing — not punishment.

6. What’s the difference between Yin Yoga and Hot Yoga?

Hot Yoga is dynamic, strength-building and practiced in a heated room.

Yin Yoga (Soft & Still) is slower, mostly floor-based and held for longer periods to deeply release connective tissue and calm the nervous system.

Many students at our combine both for balance — fire and softness.

7. I’m nervous about trying yoga. What if I’m not fit enough?

This is the most common concern we hear.

You do not need to be fit, flexible or experienced to start yoga at Seven Chakras Yoga Studio in Medway. Our classes are inclusive, welcoming and supportive.

We are not a competitive gym environment. We are a community.

8. How often should I practice yoga?

For noticeable results in flexibility, strength and stress reduction, we recommend 2–3 classes per week.

Many of our members mix:

  • Dynamic Hot Yoga

  • Align & Flow or Ashtanga

  • Yin or Stretch & Release
